SOMATIC EXPERIENCING™

Somatic Experiencing® ("SE") is a short-term,  naturalistic and gentle approach for the recovery of post traumatic and chronic stress symptoms.  SE holds the attitude that the body / mind is designed to heal intense,  extreme and chronic stress.   Trauma and stress begin as a reaction within our nervous system and not in the actual event.    Often focus is placed on the event itself, pushing through “resistance”,  promoting emotional catharsis or painful physical discomfort.  Alternatively,  SE works directly with the upset within our nervous system.   Through guided,  one-on-one relational conversation, we focus on the sensation of body memories and resources occurring in the here and now.   SE’s method of intervention regulates and calms your nervous system.   Once your nervous system begins to regulate, as it is designed,  relief,   resilience,  and recovery in the mind / body from post traumatic and chronic stress symptoms are achieved.
